Ridgecrest
"Success is shy - it won't come out while you're watching."
About
Ridgecrest came to Oceanic View a prospect full of potential. Since then he has proven that he can run at just about any distance, so long as the fields stay relatively small. He loves running just as much as he loves his "human", Kallie Sullivan. They have a very special bond that has formed since he came to the racing barn and it cannot be rivaled by any other. Ridge can be a worry-wort and likes to stick to Kallie any chance he gets, as she is the only one that has been able to calm the stallion down in his bad situations. He is very sweet on the ground and has flawless ground manners, but can be very spooky and will panic if he feels too closed in or trapped. Because of this it is very rare if he is left in a stall for any extended period of time, mostly no longer than overnight. He has often been picked on in the pasture by the other horses and has to be put in a separate pen to get his grain and hay. As soon as someone gets on his back, he gets nervous and likes to bolt. Kallie is the only rider that has been able to keep him calm and focused. Ridge is getting better with running as he continues to train and get experience. Everyday he is getting less spooky on the track and is learning to control his long legs, turning his awkwardness into swift strides.

Grade Four Turf 8-11 Furlongs Preceder When Ridgecrest isn't focused on the crowds or other horses, he can be quite the runner. He's very jumpy going into the gate, but a few kind words from Kallie will calm him down. He likes to break early, but he will settle behind the leaders where he is most comfortable. Once he gets into his stride he calms down almost instantly. That's when he is most valuable. Instead of wearing himself out like most other horses by keeping up with the front runners, he saves his energy until the homestretch. This is when he opens up is stride and takes off. |
